There is a stunningly beautiful brunette draped decorously on a pale blue chaise. "This place is absolutely fascinating. I can't imagine why I've never noticed it till now. But rules must be followed, so a question is needed." She pauses a moment, either to think, or for dramatic effect. With her, it's hard to say. "Are you able to appreciate the other side of the argument?"
You are feeling:
"Only after I lose the argument," Aion says, with a slight smile.
She smiles at him, eyes twinkling with humor. "It's a bit late to be of any use at that point, don't you think?"
"I seem to have what I'm told is a 'problem' with accepting alternate plans when I'm focused on a goal," Aion says. "But any crash you can walk away from isn't entirely a failure."
"My goodness, this sounds like something you should work on," she says, concerned. "Just how many of these types of 'crashes' have you had?"
"Sometimes," Chrono says. "But that doesn't mean I won't still disagree."
"Oh of course not! Life would get boring if we all agreed on everything, wouldn't it?"
"That's true," Chrono says with a smile.
Yeah... Faye can't help but notice that. Still, she'll only look and not touch.
"Isn't it reasonable to do so? I certainly make the attempt."
Lili wouldn't mind some harmless flirting. It's been a while.
"Very true, but people aren't always reasonable, are they? It's good that you make the attempt. So few people seem to."
Her flirting is pretty much non verbal. Things like the occasional flicking her hair, or a sideways glance coupled with a bit of eye-contact. Naturally, she isn't completely aware she's doing most of these things.
Of course, being a vampire, she doesn't seem to blink or 'breathe' unless she reminds herself to do so.
"Yeah, and you know what? It'd solve a great deal of problems if they did."
Her eyes continue to sparkle with good humor. "Indeed, it would." She holds out a delicate, well-manicured hand to the young woman. "My name is Lili. I'm new here."
"Charmed," she replies, gently taking her hand. Oh, she doesn't kiss it, but the impulse to do so was there. "I'm Faye... and I can tell you a bit about this Nexus, if you like. I've been here for over a year, so I know quite a bit."
Of course, she's liable to get an infodump if she asks Faye about the Nexus.
Quin had been sent on an errand in the Nexus and told to make it quick. But he was fast, and had a little time to spare, and so it was okay, really, that he came to a stop when he saw Lili on the way back.
"Afternoon, Ma'am. Usually, I can. It's sometimes the first step in getting the people on the other side to appreciate yours."
"My dear, dear Quin! Of course you'd be reasonable, though. I can see why you fit in so very well. How have you been? Are you enjoying the holiday season?"
"The holidays were wonderful
, thank you. I hope you're well?"
"Quite well, my darling boy. I just finished training a new girl, and now have some time off to myself." She smiles at the young guard. "I was going to spend some of it with Sam, unless you had other ideas? And do, do
tell me about your holidays. It sounds like you had fun!"
"Oh. Do you get new people to work with often?"
He's an Aristan Foundling Guard, and he's still new at the being in love thing, so the moment of guilt for 'hoarding' is pretty much automatic, but he shakes it off. There's only him and Lili, sure to be enough time. "No other ideas right now, Ma'am."
"Well, all the usual Saturnalia festivities at home, and..." Quin smiles
. "He and I had a very

big "--playin' devil's advocate. I think I'm quite good at seein' both sides. Unless Talisman and I are having a Discussion in Which I'm Right."
"Darling Daughter, aren't you always
right? I thought that's what being a wife meant!"
"I will sometimes concede defeat," Emmy says not without a small amount of humor. "Wives are meant to keep their husband's egos preened." Pause. "Aside from being married to me
, Talisman sometimes needs to think he's right."Edited at 2010-01-09 05:05 am (UTC)
"And why is that, Rhiannon? Surely Talisman doesn't need his ego stroked."
Sure. Knowing it helps you formulate your own side of the argument against that person better. ::Besides, knowing the other side of things is usually the condition telepaths live under.::
"A man after my own heart. But knowing their side is not quite the same as appreciating it."
Depends on the definition of "appreciate" you're using, whether it's "value" or "be conscious of." I'm conscious that the other person values his or her own point of view and that said point of view conflicts with mine or is in the way of me getting something I want.
"And are you ever able to concede that their point is valid, aside from simply having value for them, even though it is in conflict with your own agenda?"
