"A book of her favorite photos, with appropriate captions," says Brenda without looking up from her book. "And when he knows it's best."
"That's not a bad idea, Miss...?"
"Mrs." She closes the book and sets it on the arm of the couch, her icy blue eyes going toward him as she smirks slightly. "Brenda Wayne-Gordon."
He smiles. "I stand corrected."
"You're just being your usual gallant boyscout self." She gives him a socialite smile, those icy eyes actually warm for a change.
There's definitely more than a hint of his friend in this one.
"Would you expect anything less?
"No." Her smile widens as she tells Ace to move to one side and then pats the couch. "Join me for a chat?"
Checking for a moment to make certain he's unobserved (old habits die hard), he makes a quick change to his Clark Kent clothes before sitting down on the couch.
"It would be my pleasure."
There's suddenly a dog head on his knee, and serious golden brown eyes are examining his face minutely.
"Oh, Ace." Brenda rolls her eyes at him to cover her own slight choke up.
Clark reaches down to pet Ace. "Hello there, old fellow."
The dog whines and wags his tail, glad to have found his lost friend, even though this one didn't smell exactly like he should.
"Has Helena mentioned me?" asks Brenda quietly.
He nods as he pets Ace. "She mentioned quite a few different parallel Earths that she'd encountered. Yours included.."
"Did she mention anything about the fate of your alternate there?"
He shakes his head. "I'm afraid she didn't."
She nods. "It's not important. But it's why Ace is acting like he's found someone after a long separation."
And why she's leaning toward him a little without realizing it.
