"Ariel scans from a sub-orbital height," comes the absent reply from a woman who scans human and who is sitting on a nearby couch with her nose in a book.
"Now that, I can do, now." Flight has its advantages.
Curious blue eyes look up from the book. "Now?"
"This isn't my first body. It's a long story." She doesn't want to tell someone she barely knows.
"Oh." The woman nods without even blinking. "A recent upgrade."
Then she tilts her head. "Where are you from?"
Not 'what are you?' Not 'What do you mean, new body?' 'Where are you from?'
"Cybertron originally, but I'm on Earth now."
"Hmm? That's not been built yet, but just in the planning stages."
"Ah." She nods, then closes her book. "I'm Oriana Pax. Where I live now it's been built for several years."
"Huh, you're human. And a girl?" Oh, Nexus.
She's heard a name similar to that before.
"Not human." She shakes her head ruefully. "I still haven't been able to find out why I read that way. But yes, I'm a femme."
Ata looks at her thoughtfully. "Strange that you'd register as human..."
She shrugs. "Especially since I'm no more biological than I am mechanical."
Then those keen blue eyes look up at the red femme. "I didn't catch your name."
"Pleased to meet you," she absently repeats a greeting that she's gotten from human acquaintances.
